LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER

@ CELLAVIE | Bruges, Flanders | Full time - Hybrid

What do we do?

Cellavie is leading the charge in designing state-of-the-art industrial equipment for battery recycling facilities. Our pioneering technology ranges from regenerative discharging of high voltage battery packs to characterization and second-life assessment of individual battery cells and modules. As a dynamic startup, our small but mighty team is working hard to transform the battery recycling industry. To accelerate our impact, we are looking to expand our team with a lead software engineer.

What will you do?

As our Lead Software Engineer, you will oversee everything software-related within the company, that includes our products and R&D, as well as internal tools and processes. You will work within a small multidisciplinary team and be closely involved in the decision-making from ideation to execution. Your technical expertise and creativity will help us tackle the exciting challenges of a fast-moving startup.

Here’s an overview of some of the things you’ll be in charge of:

  • Develop and maintain software applications for embedded platforms

  • Develop and test high-level hardware device drivers in different languages

  • Design and implement user interfaces for our Linux based devices

  • Research and development on control systems, communication protocols, reverse engineering…

  • Collaborate with third parties and external partners on design and development

  • Work with end-users to enhance user experience and optimize software performance.

  • Take charge of setting up and maintaining a reliable and scalable system for software development and collaboration.

  • Define and implement best practices for future software development

What does it take?

You’re not just an engineer, you’re an architect. You can think outside the box and don’t mind challenging the way things are currently done to come up with innovative solutions. You’re a critical thinker with a can-do mindset who is not afraid to jump in the deep end. You work well in a small team and are excited about working in a fast growing environment and the variety in tasks and responsibilities this brings. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where you’re given freedom to operate and experiment and in which your input makes a big difference.

You’re qualified if you have the following:

  • Proven experience in Python, C, and C++ programming languages.

  • Familiarity with embedded systems architecture and microcontroller platforms

  • Understanding of electronics and hardware design principles

  • Fluency in English – Which is the team’s dominant language

  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

  • A hands-on mentality with the ability to solve complex problems.

And of course, there are some “nice to haves”:

  • Experience in software development for power electronics or related fields

  • (Embedded) Linux experience

Experience working independently or in small teams, especially in a startup environment, is highly valued.
